Question 1

What is Tracker247?

Accepted Answer

Tracker247 is a GPS fleet tracking service at tracker247.co.uk. You get a web dashboard, live map, iPhone and Android web apps, a native Android app, alerts, journey reports, and integrations such as Home Assistant - built for businesses that want reliable visibility without unnecessary complexity.

Question 2

Is Tracker247 available yet?

Accepted Answer

Yes — we are running paid beta trials. Standard Base is £55 per tracker per year; beta customers pay £25 for the first 12 months on Base, then the standard rate. Apply for beta under Sales and we will onboard carefully while we finish self-service signup.

Question 3

What does beta pricing include?

Accepted Answer

The same Base features as the standard plan for that tracker: live map, history, journey reports, alerts, mobile apps, and Home Assistant when configured. Business and Enterprise options are still arranged with sales.

Question 4

Which GPS hardware is supported?

Accepted Answer

Tracker247 is built for Teltonika professional telematics devices - hardwired, battery-mounted, and OBD models. See Compatible Hardware for models and device prices (from £45, incl. SIM and configuration). Hardware is purchased through Tracker247 only, pre-configured and ready to plug in and go. The Base subscription is separate. USA and other regional hardware/SIM options are available - contact sales if you need help choosing for your fleet or geography.

Question 5

What if I leave Tracker247 — can I still use my tracker?

Accepted Answer

Yes. If you choose to leave, we provide an unlock code for your tracker free of charge. You can then reprogram it using configuration software available from Teltonika, the manufacturer — your hardware is not locked to Tracker247.

Question 6

How far back can I see history?

Accepted Answer

All vehicles on your account include 12 months of location and journey history. If you need a longer retention period, contact us and we can discuss options.

Question 7

How do journey reports work?

Accepted Answer

Open your dashboard, open the Reports section, pick a vehicle and date range (up to 93 days), then run the report. You will see each detected journey with start and end times and places, distance, duration, and speeds, plus a speed-exceeded summary that uses publicly available road speed limits and road names. Download a PDF from the same screen when you need a copy. See the Journey reports guide in the Help Centre for a full walkthrough.

Question 8

Can I see live and past positions on the map?

Accepted Answer

Yes. The live map shows current positions for your vehicles. You can also review historical tracks for dates within your retention period. Track points show recorded GNSS speed and, where available, the matched road speed limit from publicly available map data - with clear highlighting when speed is clearly above that limit.

Question 9

How do road speed limits work?

Accepted Answer

Tracker247 matches positions to publicly available road speed limits and road names. On the map, hover a point to see recorded speed and the road limit; points clearly above the limit are highlighted. Journey reports (on screen and PDF) include a speed-exceeded summary with road name, speeds, time, and a link to the location. External road-limit data can be incomplete or inaccurate - always drive to the posted speed limit or lower where appropriate.

Question 10

What alerts can I receive?

Accepted Answer

Depending on how your account is set up, you can receive alerts for events such as geofence entry and exit, ignition, and movement. Deliver them to the iPhone web app, Android web app, native Android app, Pushover, or a combination - configured per vehicle from your dashboard.

Question 11

Can I get alerts on my phone?

Accepted Answer

Yes. Push notifications work on the iPhone web app, Android web app, and native Android app - each opens straight to the vehicle on the map when you tap an alert. Pushover is also supported if you prefer that channel.

Question 12

Do I need a separate login for the mobile apps?

Accepted Answer

No. Use the same username and password as the web dashboard. Your vehicles, alerts, and settings stay in sync across desktop, web apps, and the native Android app.

Question 13

Does it work with Home Assistant?

Accepted Answer

Yes. Download the Home Assistant package from your Tracker247 dashboard — it includes the bridge service, our Tracker HA Bridge custom integration, certificates, and an install script. The bridge is stream-only: Home Assistant opens a local WebSocket to the bridge (no Home Assistant credentials are stored on the bridge). Each vehicle becomes a proper Home Assistant device with a device tracker plus companion sensors — no YAML templates required. See Home Assistant integration in the Help Centre.

Question 14

What do I get in Home Assistant for each vehicle?

Accepted Answer

A device tracker for map and zone presence, plus companion sensors and binary sensors under the same device — such as speed, fuel level, external voltage, ignition, and movement when your tracker provides those readings. Sensor availability is tracker-device dependent. Entities are created when you configure the integration; live telemetry fills them as the vehicle reports.

Question 15

What telemetry is available on the HA bridge WebSocket?

Accepted Answer

The bridge can rebroadcast live location updates on a local WebSocket stream (default ws://127.0.0.1:12000/ws/stream). Each message includes the vehicle IMEI, timestamp, GPS position, speed, heading, altitude, satellite count, and an io field with device telemetry when available. See the HA bridge WebSocket API docs for setup and the full message format.

Question 16

What do I need to get a tracker online?

Accepted Answer

Purchase a Tracker247 package that includes everything you need - compatible hardware, connectivity, and setup. Your tracker arrives configured for your account; install it in the vehicle and it will appear on your map, usually within a few minutes of first connection.

Question 17

Why has my vehicle stopped updating?

Accepted Answer

Gaps are usually caused by temporary mobile coverage loss, the vehicle being parked underground, or a power or wiring issue with the device. If a vehicle stays offline longer than expected, check the installation and SIM, then contact support if you still need help.

Question 18

Is my data secure?

Accepted Answer

Yes. Encrypted since day 1: Tracker247 uses full TLS between your GPS trackers and our servers, and the Home Assistant bridge connects with TLS as well - so location data stays protected on the way into your HA install. The web dashboard and apps also use modern TLS and secure sessions. You only see the vehicles on your account. See Privacy & Security for more detail.

Question 19

Can someone else access my fleet?

Accepted Answer

Each Tracker247 account is separate. If you need additional logins for your organisation, contact us and we will help.

Question 20

Is there an iPhone app?

Accepted Answer

Tracker247 offers an iPhone web app - add the site to your home screen from Safari to get the full live map, dashboard, and push alerts with the same login as desktop. There is also an Android web app and a native Android app; all three mobile options offer the same functionality.

Question 21

How do I install the native Android app?

Accepted Answer

Download the APK from the Tracker247 login page (direct install - available now). Allow installs from your browser if Android asks, open the file, and sign in with your usual account. A Google Play Store listing is planned later for easier discovery; you do not need to wait for it.

Question 22

What is the difference between the web apps and the native Android app?

Accepted Answer

The iPhone web app, Android web app, and native Android app all give you the same live map, dashboard, history, and push alerts. The native Android app adds extras such as biometric unlock and fine-grained notification settings, but you do not miss core fleet features by using a web app instead.

Question 23

How do I join the beta?

Accepted Answer

Use Apply for beta under Sales. Tell us your fleet size and we will follow up with onboarding for the £25 first-year Base trial.
